Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU 4E, 4th Floor East Wing
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts (06:30-18:30, 18:30-06:30)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Level of Care: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Unit Beds: 55
Patient Population: Adults primarily; pediatric patients 15 years and older rarely
Unit Details
- RN-to-patient ratio: 1:4 (days and nights)
- Nursing assistant support available
- Charge nurse present
- Additional support staff: Educator, Care Managers, Social Workers, Dieticians, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy
- Common patient diagnoses: CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, weakness
- Common drips/medications: PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, insulin
- Specialty equipment: Mechanical lifts in every other room
- IV pumps: Alaris
- EMR system: EPIC
- Telemetry competency required
- Float assignments: Yes, ideally to medical-surgical areas based on highest need
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- Telemetry competency
- Valid driver’s license required at submittal (used to verify candidate location within 50 miles radius)
Additional Information
- Fingernail policy: Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
- RN skills exam during orientation: Open book, must pass with 90% or higher to continue
- Scrub color: Navy blue for RNs
- Patient experience focus: Hourly rounding and responsiveness
- Unit culture: Tight-knit team environment with strong peer support
- Staffing challenges present on the unit

- Candidates may not currently be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with a certain large health system within a 50-mile radius
