Required Qualifications

• Active RN role
• BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Unexpired driver’s license
• Epic experience
• Strong Med/Surg background
• Does not accept first-time travelers

Schedule Requirements

• Every other weekend required
• Holidays rotate with regular staff
• Floating is required

Unit Details

• Med/Surg unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: no more than 5
• House supervisor makes assignments
• No charge nurse
• Nurse aides are present on the unit
• ICU monitors are used for telemetry monitoring and staff document from faxed readings

Clinical Scope

• Common patient types include chest pain, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic, detox, post-op surgery, and pediatric patients
• Does not take laboring mothers
• Does not titrate cardiac drips or insulin drips
• RNs are not required to titrate drips

Additional Information

• CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow respiratory support are managed with RT assistance
• Scrubs may be any color except camo or orange
• Orientation includes unit training and training for medication, pharmacy, and lab systems
• Extra shifts may be available
