Contract Length

Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, nights
- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
- No call or standby
- Not self-scheduling; no blocking
Unit Details
- CVICU with 20 private, monitored beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1
- Travelers are expected to take a full team
- Float scope: every level of care
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- At least 2 solid years of CVICU experience
- Must be able to interpret strips
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Must be able to pick up the unit’s equipment and patient population right away
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Must be able to read and interpret strips
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS
- CCRN
- More than 2 years of CVICU experience
- Experience with ICU travel assignments
- Experience with immediate post-op, VAD, and transplant patients
Clinical Scope
- Post open heart surgical patients, including CABG, valves, CABG/Valve, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, and carotids
- Post cardiovascular procedures
- STEMI, unstable angina, unstable N-STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy
- Targeted Temperature Management (Hypothermia)
- Transcutaneous pacing and transvenous pacing
- Severe heart failure
- TAVRs
- Cardiac-related ICU patients
- Ventilated patients
- Overflow patients from other ICUs, including COVID patients
- Post VAD placement and post heart transplant patients are coming soon
Equipment and Monitoring
- IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT
- PICC, midlines, CVC, Swans, and arterial lines
- Ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide
- Philips monitoring
- Multiple titratable drips, including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, and esmolol
Staffing and Support
- Charge nurses 24/7
- House supervisor 24/7
- PCTs available
- Respiratory therapists 24/7
- CV APNs/PAs and CCS APNs/PAs, with providers on call
Orientation
- 1 day unit-specific orientation
- 2 days with a preceptor
Submission Requirements
- Last four digits of SSN
- Middle initial
- Requested time off
- Negative drug screen for all panels
