Position Overview

• Specialty: Gastroenterology (GI) for Ambulatory Surgery
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days
• Hours: 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Unit covers GI procedures in Outpatient Surgery, Main OR, Emergency Department, and Critical Care areas
• Average procedures per day: 7
• Common procedures: screening colonoscopies, EGDs, interventional EGDs and colonoscopies, motility studies, Bravo EGDs, ERCPs, and EUSs

Work Environment & Responsibilities

• EMR system: Cerner
• Charge nurse role available
• Weeknight call requirement: 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend/Holiday call: Two call shifts per 30-day schedule

  • Two 24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 AM)
  • One 12-hour call shift (7:00 AM start)
• GI staff float to Main OR as needed
• Support teams available 24/7: Hospitalist or Intensivist, Respiratory Therapy, IV Team
• Pharmacy operates 4x10 hour shifts starting at 7:00 AM; days off vary by case volume
• Scrub color provided

Required Qualifications

• Advanced GI RN experience with the listed procedures is mandatory
• Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), Procedural Sedation experience required (a Procedural Sedation course will be provided at orientation)
• Must provide 2 supervisory references from modality submitting to (charge accepted) at submittal:

  • One reference within the past 12 months
  • One reference within the past 3 years
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with a specific large health system within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
