Overview
- Travel contract for an experienced NICU nurse
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Location: Los Angeles, California
- Shift: Days, 12 hours
- Hours per week: 36
Unit Details
- NICU, Level III
- 26 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2 and 1:1
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of NICU experience
- Experience in a Level 3 NICU
- Active BLS
- NRP
- CA License
Preferred Certifications
- PALS
- LA City Fire & Safety
Clinical Experience / Skills
- Experience with drips including dopamine, dobutamine, versed, and fentanyl
Patient Population
- Premature infants
- Sepsis
- Surgical cases including gastroschesis and evas
- Ventilated patients rarely
- Nasal CPAP
- Rare oscillators
- High-risk deliveries in L&D
Schedule
- Self-scheduling by seniority
- Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday
- 1 major and 1 minor holiday
Float Scope
- First to float to Nursery and Pediatrics
- Pediatrics is a 12-bed low-acuity sister unit
Unit Environment
- Charge nurse is free of assignment
- No nurse aides on the unit
- Neonatologist in house 24/7
- RT in unit 24 hours
- Tele on the unit; RN monitors patients
- Open bay area with monitors
Orientation
- 3 shifts on the unit with a preceptor
- 6 hours in Nursery and 6 hours on Pediatrics
Dress Code
- Navy scrubs
