Radiologic Technologist - Rockford, IL

Job Type

• Contract position
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Hours per week: 36-40 hours

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiology Technologist license in Illinois
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year
• ARRT certification

Job Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiographic, portable, C-arm, and fluoroscopic procedures
• Review patient clinical history and ensure appropriate orders and labs are in place; consult radiologist as needed
• Provide patient education related to imaging procedures
• Select and operate imaging equipment and accessories to perform procedures successfully
• Position patients to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient comfort and ability
• Apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients, self, and others
• Report and document any safety incidents or adverse events related to X-ray/fluoroscopy per protocol
• Process images, review for quality control, and ensure proper identification
• Use radiology information systems (including PACS) to complete records, submit images, and assist with medical record/image sharing
• Document all pertinent procedure information in the electronic medical record, including medication reconciliation
• Provide practical instruction and expert training to radiography students and new technologists
• Assist and transport patients safely during procedures
• Operate mobile radiologic equipment in various settings including operating room, emergency room, and bedside
• Assist radiologist during fluoroscopic and special X-ray examinations
• Prepare contrast media and assist in its administration
• Adjust and coordinate patient and staff schedules as needed
• Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of electronic medical records, PACS, and imaging equipment
