Unit Type: PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
Number of Beds: 14-22
Staff per Shift: 4-6 nurses plus CNC (Clinical Nurse Coordinator) and unit secretary preferred CNC-free
Patient Ratios: Med/Surg 4:1
EMR System: Meditech
Equipment: Typical PICU equipment; no neurosurgery or stroke cases, no foreign body airway removal
Procedures Commonly Performed:
- Cleft palate repair
- Appendectomy (appy)
- Chest tube management
- Lumbar punctures
- Seizure management
- Noninvasive cardiology
- Neuro, ortho, general surgery, thoracic cases (thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, pectus bar implants)

Required Qualifications

License: Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Certifications: BLS, PALS (required)
Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in PICU or related specialty
Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Work Schedule & Environment

Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend days every 4 weeks
On Call: None
Floating Areas: NICU Level 1 or 2 only
Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
Personality Fit: Supportive, collaborative, team-oriented environment
