Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) - Travel Position
Location: Cortez, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Friday to Sunday
- 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
Job Summary
Provide quality patient care and diagnostic radiographic imaging to the southwestern Colorado community. Responsibilities include supervising radiographic technology students and acting as a lead technologist in assigned modalities. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, employee and patient safety, and supply management. Oversee technologists in the department to ensure all requirements are met.
Essential Functions
- Collect patient and procedure data
- Inform patients, families, and healthcare providers about procedures
- Perform diagnostic imaging with professional judgment and discretion
- Deliver unbiased patient care regardless of personal attributes or socioeconomic status
- Maintain credentials and certifications
- Adapt imaging procedures for quality diagnostic interpretation
- Use accessory equipment as needed
- Utilize Cerner and PACS systems appropriately
- Support peers by covering shifts as needed
- Communicate clearly within the department and with other hospital units
- Participate in community education and professional organizations
- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity
- Ensure patient safety and reduce healthcare errors
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography
- Registered in four modalities (RT, CT, MR, Nuclear Medicine, or Mammography)
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Adherence to dress code and professional appearance
- Completion of annual educational and regulatory requirements
- Compliance with patient confidentiality, safety, infection control, and organizational policies
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Basic computer skills
Work Environment
- Potential exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and unpleasant odors
- Moderate to occasionally loud noise levels
- Possible interactions with aggressive patients or visitors
- Exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
Physical Demands
- Heavy strength requirements: occasionally exert up to 100 lbs, frequently up to 75 lbs, constantly up to 30 lbs
- Full range of motion including kneeling, crouching, reaching, and feeling
- Auditory demands include clear verbal communication and sound discrimination
- Visual demands include near-point focus and color vision
- Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities without compromising patient care
Critical Physical Activities:
- Lifting: 5 to 30 lbs occasionally
- Carrying: 5 to 30 lbs frequently
- Pushing/Pulling: 9 to 110 lbs, varying frequency
- Grip and pinch strength required
