Travel RN Opportunity – Operating Room (OR)

Location: Portland, Maine

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)
• Employment Type: Travel
• Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
• Shift:

  • 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (36 hours) or
  • 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours)
  • Occasional weekends or call required
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Call Requirements: Occasional call
• Float Requirements: No

Experience & Certifications

• Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in OR specialty
• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Preferred Certifications:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred but not required
  • AORN (Association of periOperative Registered Nurses) certification is a plus

Unit & Patient Information

• Patient Population: Pediatric to geriatric patients
• Procedures:

  • Laryngoscopy
  • Sinus surgery
  • Facial plastics and trauma
  • Cochlear implants
  • Oral surgery
  • Complex head and neck cancer surgery
  • Tonsillectomy
  • Tympanoplasty
• Environment: Fast-paced, Level 1 trauma center
• EMR System: EPIC

• Experience with ENT, Dental, Plastics, Pediatrics, and Trauma Level 1 cases
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment

Summary

This travel RN position in the Operating Room requires at least 2 years of OR experience and certifications in BLS and ACLS. The role involves working in a Level 1 trauma center with a diverse patient population and a variety of complex surgical procedures. The schedule includes long shifts with occasional weekends and call. The ideal candidate is flexible, patient-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
