Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Wausau, Wisconsin.
• 7-week contract.
• Primary location: Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
• 12-hour day/night variable shifts: 7a-7p / 7p-7a.
• Every other weekend and holiday required.
• Guaranteed 48 hours per week.
• Eligible for 36 hours of low-census unbillable time; may be asked to work 4- or 8-hour increments during low census.

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN license.
• BLS (AHA or ARC).
• 2+ years of Med Surg experience.
• Recent hospital experience.
• Trauma level II experience.
• Prior travel experience required.
• Epic experience required.

Unit Details

• Post Surgical Care Unit, post-recovery after PACU.
• 40-bed inpatient unit for pre- and post-surgical adults and geriatric patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: days/PM 1:4 or 5; nights 1:5-7.
• Fast-paced unit averaging 10-15 admissions per day.
• Occupancy is 90-95% during the week.
• Average length of stay is 2-3 days, except joints.

Skills / Work Expectations

• Must be able to multitask, prioritize care based on acuity, and work as part of a team.

Float Scope

• Float to all inpatient units.

Additional Notes

• Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris pumps are used on the unit.
• Scrub color: any color.
• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccination must wear a mask at all times.
