Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Location: Ironwood, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (typically 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM; start times may vary between 6:30 AM and 9:00 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in the Operating Room with responsibilities including circulating cases.
• Float to pre-op, PACU, and endoscopy as needed.
• On-call 1-2 times per week from end of shift until 7:00 AM the next day.
• Occasional weekend call required (Friday through Sunday until 7:00 AM Monday). No holiday shifts, but holiday on-call coverage is required.
• Manage cases from surgical admission through unit discharge when on call.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Michigan
• OR - Operating Room (2 years of experience)
• OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Strong circulating experience
• Pre/post-operative experience
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience
• Preoperative experience

Unit and Case Details

• Unit includes 3 ORs and 1 endoscopy room.
• Cases include:

  • Orthopedic: total knee, hip, shoulder replacements; ORIFs; hip fractures; I&Ds.
  • General Surgery: laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair; EGD, colonoscopy; lesion removals; lumpectomy; hemorrhoidectomy.
  • OB/GYN: hysteroscopy, hysterectomy, laparoscopic salpingectomy.
  • Other: cataract removal, bunionectomy.

Additional Information

• Facility uses Epic for charting.
• Candidates should be hardworking, resilient, adaptable to change, and socially engaging.
• Scrub colors are provided.
• Travel radius rule: must live within 50 miles of the facility.
• GSA does not apply during orientation week.
