Job Summary

A Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of a group of patients, focusing on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit and promotes professional development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members and applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. The role includes mentoring and precepting staff.


Job Responsibilities

  • Assessment: Perform assessments and reassessments per policy or as patient condition warrants; make sound independent decisions.
  • Development & Implementation: Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care; collaborate with patient/family and interdisciplinary services; use resources appropriately.
  • Evaluation: Monitor and document responses to clinical interventions.
  • Education: Facilitate, coordinate, provide, and evaluate education tailored to patient/family needs during stay and at discharge.
  • Leadership: Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as mentor/preceptor; encourage teamwork; identify and communicate opportunities for improvement; participate in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts; comply with regulatory standards; engage in Practice Governance model.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience.

Education Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN).

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Registered Nurse license.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).
