Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (Contract)

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment

Progressive Care Unit with 15 beds:
- 3 Step-down ICU beds
- 12 Telemetry beds
Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:4 in Progressive Care
- 1:3 in Step-down ICU
Scheduled 36 hours per week after first week of orientation
No call required
Floating required to all acute units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER

Job Responsibilities

Primary nursing care
Telemetry monitoring and strip reading
Fingerstick blood sugar testing
Use of equipment such as Meditech charting system, Pyxis medication dispenser, BIPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Hawaii
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
Acute care experience
ACLS certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday
Dress code: Scrubs

It’s always 4 to 1 except hallways you might only have 3. The staff is so kind and welcoming I have nothing bad to say about them. This was my favorite assignment so far
