Job Opportunity: PACU Nurse (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Job Description

• Provide care for patients pre-op, and during Phase I and Phase II recovery after surgery.
• Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care skills to assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, and track patient stability or complications.
• Critical care and surgical nursing experience is highly valued.
• Equipment used includes Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, Phillips Monitors.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a critical care RN (ER & ICU experience may substitute for PACU experience).
• Valid Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment.
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is recommended and may be required.
• Other specialty-related certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) preferred and may be required for specific positions.
• Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start.

Shift & Schedule

• Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours.
• Possible shifts include Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays.
• No guarantee of specific hours or shift preference.
• On-call shifts 0-3 times per month (8-hour night shifts and 24-hour weekend/holiday shifts).

Additional Information

• Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
