Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
• Active licenses and certifications:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
  • PALS (AHA)
  • Valid California nursing license
• Must pass a Dyslexia exam through Relias within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
• Candidates must provide 2 supervisory references (1 within the last 12 months, 1 within the last 3 years)
• Candidates may not have been employed by any CommonSpirit-associated facility within the past year (PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable)

Job Details

• Unit: 8-bed ICU with primarily medical ICU patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
• EMR system: Cerner
• Shift: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), every other weekend, holiday rotation with core staff
• Floating: Expected to float to sister facilities in Sacramento and to the MedSurg unit at Woodland
• Orientation: 1-2 days floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Responsibilities:

  • Charge nurse duties (generally does not take patients but provides break relief)
  • Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Environment:

  • ICU has a horseshoe layout
  • PACU is adjacent to ICU
• Additional support:

  • RT (Respiratory Therapist) available 24/7
  • Pharmacy available 24/7
  • Hospitalist or Intensivist in-house
  • Nurse aides available as needed
  • No IV team
• Dress code: Navy scrubs required; under shirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets optional but must be navy
• Scheduling:

  • Self-scheduling with manager final approval
  • Schedules released 4 weeks in advance
  • Opportunities for overtime and extra shifts available
  • Block scheduling generally not available
