Registered Nurse (OB/L&D) - Minnesota, Bemidji

Job Details

  • Specialty: OB/L&D (Labor & Delivery), Postpartum, Newborn Care
  • Location: Bemidji, Minnesota
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour day/night rotation, every 3rd weekend and rotating holidays
  • Schedule: Variable shifts including weekends; must be willing to float to Med-Surg and Telemetry units as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active Minnesota RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of OB/L&D nursing experience
  • Current certifications:
    • BLS (AHA)
    • ACLS (AHA)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • EPIC electronic medical record experience (or familiarity with other EMR systems)
  • Ability to work in Labor and Postpartum units
  • Willingness to float primarily as helping hands and occasionally to Med-Surg patients

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide care for postpartum mothers, stable antepartum patients, newborns, gynecology patients, and Med-Surg overflow
  • May serve as second RN in Special Care Nursery (SCN)
  • Assist with circulating in Labor & Delivery if experienced
  • Support unit staffing needs including coverage for onboarding, vacancies, and staff on leave

Patient Care & Unit Information

  • Average daily census:
    • 5 mom/baby couplets
    • 2 pediatrics
    • 1 gynecology patient
    • 2 laboring patients
    • 4 Special Care Nursery patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN standards:
    • 1:3 mom/baby couplets
    • 1:5 gynecology/Med-Surg patients
    • 1:3-4 pediatrics
  • Support staff includes ward clerks, CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurses, and LPN scrub nurses

  • EPIC One Chart
  • Omnicell medication system
  • Philips vital signs monitors
  • Bladder scanner
  • Medula breast pumps
  • Responder 5 call light system
  • Medfusion infusion pumps

Additional Information

  • Orientation includes equipment and unit-specific training on the first day
  • Clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
  • Uniform scrub color: Navy Blue
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
