Location: South Charleston, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Cath Lab travel nurse to work in a hospital setting. The role involves circulating, sedating patients, and completing documentation during cardiac catheterization procedures.

Unit Details

Unit: Cath Lab
Number of suites/labs: 2
Average cases per day: 5-10
Common procedures: Diagnostic left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, IABP, Impella, Temporary pacemaker, TCAR, EVAR, EKOS, AIF, IVC filters, Infusaports, Permacaths
Cardiologist on call: 24/7

Job Duties

Circulate during procedures
Sedate patients
Complete documentation requirements
Must have scrub experience and be able to scrub in

Schedule & Call Requirements

Work five days per week; start and stop times vary based on case schedule
On-call rotation: One week of on-call per four-week schedule (Monday 7 AM to following Monday 7 AM)
Weekend call: Friday after hours until Monday 7 AM (if not on Monday-to-Monday call)
Holiday call: Rotational
Call response time: 30 minutes
No floating required, but extra hours possible on other units if experienced

Orientation

General hospital orientation
Nursing orientation
Department-specific computer training
Up to 36 hours (approximately one week) of orientation in the Cath Lab
Orientation includes four 10-hour shifts, call shifts, late shifts, weekends, and holidays in rotation

Required Certifications

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab nursing experience
Must have prior scrub experience

Equipment & EMR

Siemens software and equipment used in the Cath Lab

Additional Information

Surgical attire provided (lead apron not provided)
Must know sterile technique
Prefer experience with EKOS but training available

Required Qualifications

Current RN license
BLS and ACLS certifications
Minimum 1 year Cath Lab nursing experience with scrub experience

This position requires a Registered Nurse with Cath Lab experience who is comfortable with sterile technique, circulating, and sedation during cardiac catheterization procedures, and able to participate in a structured on-call rotation.

MDs are easy to work with. Staff is decent and appreciative. Not a hard schedule(8-12 day in 2 labs) straight forward cases. Fair scheduling Late days are by schedule and not on your call day(get to leave on time if on call as late team stays to finish day) and usually not too late for the late team.
