Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks

Job Description

• Seeking experienced CVICU RNs comfortable caring for fresh open heart patients (experience with fresh open hearts within the past 12 months required).
• Must have knowledge of balloon pumps and CRRT.
• Willingness to float and work in other ICU units (SCIU, CCU, ICU) when CVICU census is low.
• High acuity ICU requiring strong ICU, assessment, medical, surgical, and some cardiac experience.
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling; nurses assigned to a primary unit but expected to float within their pod or to other units including stepdown and ED as needed.
• Patient care includes sepsis, DKA, PN, ARDS, MODS, cardiovascular surgeries, post-vascular procedures, CRRT (experience not required), and IABP (experience not required).
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds presenting patients.

Requirements

• Licenses: Compact or Georgia RN license required.
• Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS required.
• Experience:

  • CVICU specialty experience with fresh open hearts within the past 12 months.
  • 2 years of ICU specialty experience required for other ICU units (SCIU, CCU, ICU).
  • No first-time travelers accepted.
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.

Work Details

• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a).
• Schedule: Every other weekend.
• Uniform: Forest green or white pants with white top.
• Equipment: Draeger ventilators, standard ICU drips, monitors in patient rooms and nurse stations.
• Support: Intensivist and NP coverage during the day; NP in-house and intensivist on call at night.
• Float assignments within pod or to stepdown and ED units as needed.
• Use of techs for ADLs, fingersticks, and I/O.
• Charge nurse present in each unit but kept out of staffing grid.

Additional Notes

• Strict 75-mile radius rule applies.
• Must be flexible and able to work collaboratively with core staff.
