Behavioral Health RN Job Opportunity

Location: Ashland, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse for a 10-bed adult psych/detox unit. The unit treats patients with alcohol use disorder, polysubstance use, alcohol detox, depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM)
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No self or block scheduling; schedule set by director with some flexibility
• No call, standby, or floating requirements

Unit Environment

• Nurse-to-patient ratio mostly 1:3, maximum 1:5
• Charge nurse available 24/7 who also admits patients
• Physical restraints and IVs are rarely used
• Mental health specialists and nurse aides available during 7 AM–7 PM shifts
• Respiratory therapist available if needed
• No telemetry on the unit
• Dress code: option to wear scrubs or street clothes (no tank tops, blue jeans, or open-toed shoes; clothing must be neat and appropriate)
• Photo ID badges required on duty

Orientation

• 2-3 days unit-specific orientation with a preceptor

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience
• First-time travelers are welcome
