Respiratory Therapist - Arizona, Yuma

Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Shift: Nights (7p-7a)
  • Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
  • Contract Length: Not specified
  • Start Date: Not flexible
  • Location: Inpatient and Foothills Emergency Department (freestanding, 15-minute drive)
  • Patient Types: Adults, pediatrics, neonates (only if NICU trained; will attend all deliveries and C-sections)
  • Typical Workload: 5-6 ventilator treatments per day; approximately 35 treatments in 12 hours

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Arizona (NO Certified Respiratory Therapist - CRT)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) if NICU experience

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
  • First-time travelers with 2 years experience are acceptable
  • Prior travel experience is not required

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform arterial blood gases (ABGs) draws and analysis
  • Administer respiratory treatments and manage ventilator settings
  • Assist with intubations (independent intubation not required)
  • Float to Foothills Emergency Department as needed

Work Environment & Support

  • Intensivist available in-house 24/7
  • Charge RRT present on each shift
  • Not the sole RT in the main hospital; may be the only RT in Foothills ED
  • Equipment used includes Vent-Avea, Hamilton C1, Bipap-V60, EV300, HiFlow Aerovo 2, Zoll vents (backup), Glidescope and Glidescope-GO for intubation

Scheduling & Orientation

  • Shifts: 6a/6p scheduling, no guaranteed block schedule but accommodations possible
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday requirement: Work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • May be placed on low census call or standby
  • Orientation includes one day each in Neonatal, Emergency Department, ICU, and floor; additional NICU day if applicable

Additional Information

  • Dress code: Black scrubs
  • Must comply with a 100-mile radius rule for travel

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Arizona
  • Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
