Sonographer – Vascular Tech

Location: Silverdale, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Perform vascular exams and prepare preliminary reports for vascular surgeons. Recognize critical findings and communicate them to the team. Maintain a clean workspace.


Work Environment

  • Department: Vascular Surgery
  • Clinic Size: 3 vascular rooms
  • Providers per Day: 7-12 (including vascular surgeons and APPs)
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 9 studies per day (usually 6-8 patients due to double studies)
  • EMR Systems: Epic, PASC Sectra
  • Shift: Days, typically 7 AM – 5 PM with some flexibility
  • Schedule Options: Five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts
  • No weekend, holiday, call, standby, or floating requirements
  • Dress Code: Scrubs in any professional color

Patient Population & Procedures

  • Common Diagnoses/Studies:
    • ABI (Ankle-Brachial Index)
    • Carotid duplex
    • Upper and lower arterial duplex
    • Upper and lower venous duplex (including insufficiency)
    • Aortoiliac, iliocaval, renal, mesenteric studies
    • Pre-op hemodialysis mapping
    • Hemodialysis access (fistula and graft)

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification via ARDMS
  • BLS Certification
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Vascular Technologist
  • Proficient in scanning complex pathology and patients with surgical corrections (e.g., balloon angioplasty, stent placement, bypass grafts, endarterectomies, EVAR)
  • Skilled in scanning fistulas and dialysis access grafts
  • Ability to research patient history prior to scanning, including reviewing surgical history and past scans to identify significant changes or critical findings

  • Majority of patients (>90%) have vascular pathology and many have had surgical corrections
  • No prior travel experience required
