Contract Length

Schedule

• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling, subject to change to maintain a balanced schedule

Unit Details

• 4IC has 32 beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-6, depending on acuity
• This unit generally cares for post-catherization patients
• The unit manages sheaths and TR bands
• TAVR experience is preferred
• The unit serves as overflow for 3E, so the nurse must be able to care for chest tubes
• The patient population includes medical patients requiring tele monitoring

Required Qualifications

• RN
• BLS required
• Ability to titrate drips
• Must be able to manage all drips except pressors, paralytics, and TPA

Preferred Qualifications

• TAVR experience

Additional Clinical Details

• Charge nurse is present on each shift and most of the time takes an assignment
• Nurse aides/patient care techs are available at about a 1:15 ratio
• RT support is in house; nurses place patients on and off CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow, while RT sets the rates
• Centralized tele monitoring is used; RNs read strips once per shift and with rhythm changes
• Floating may include the Floors
• Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Holiday requirement: 2 summer and 3 winter
• Call or standby is not required
• Unit-specific orientation is 1-2 shifts
• Scrub color: Galaxy Blue
