Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts

• Surgical acute care unit
• 63 beds

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA)

Patient Population / Unit Focus

• Post-op surgical patients
• Trauma
• Overflow medical patients
• Dressing changes
• Wound care
• IV therapy
• Pain management
• Drains
• NG tubes
• Central lines
• TPN

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 4-5 on days, 5-6 on nights
• Heparin is the only titratable/set-rate drip mentioned
• No ventilators on the unit
• CPAP and high-flow support are used
• Some patients are on telemetry
• Bedside nurses do not read strips; monitor techs handle this
• Charge nurses do not take an assignment
• Travelers are first to float
• Travelers float to units with the same level of experience
• If an ICU RN floats to a general unit, they take a team of 3 patients

Schedule / Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday rotation required
• Travelers do not self-schedule
• Block scheduling may be considered if approved at the time of contract

Orientation

• 2 shifts with a preceptor
• 1 additional 12-hour shift for orientation and EPIC training with the unit educator

Submission Requirements

• Last four digits of SSN
• Middle initial
• Requested time off
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

Additional Notes

• Local placements are accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Local rate adjustment applies within 50 miles
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours
• Call-off policy: equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty
