Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with a focus on Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool assignments.
- Unit has 49 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5.
- Common patient diagnoses include congestive heart failure (CHF), COVID-19, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal conditions, diabetes, telemetry monitoring, post-catheterization care, and total joint replacement.
- RNs are required to interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift.
- No RN drip titration required; set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips are used.
- Respiratory equipment used includes BiPAP, CPAP, and breathing treatments.
- Floating to East Campus and possibly PCU is required if qualified.
- Orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit.
- Self-scheduling is used with manager final approval.
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule.
- Holiday coverage includes Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving with specific shift expectations.
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current state RN license.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
- At least 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips.
- Some experience with cerebrovascular accident (CVA) and transient ischemic attack (TIA) patients.
- Experience with total joint replacement patients is preferred.
- Cerner electronic health record experience is recommended due to limited orientation time.
Additional Information
- No call or standby requirements.
- Nurse aides are present on the unit with a ratio of 1 aide per 10-15 patients.
- Candidates must not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past year at any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system within a 50-mile radius.
- The unit is supervised by both a charge nurse and house supervisor.
