Contract
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts

Required Qualifications
- Active BLS certification
- 1 year of medical-surgical experience
- Experience with bedside shift report
- Able to take a 1:6 patient ratio
- Able to titrate drips
- Experience with the shift being worked
- First-time travelers accepted
Unit Details
- Medical-surgical unit with 38 beds
- Typical patient population includes adults and possibly older teens
- Common cases include pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory virus, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, spinal surgery, and urology
- Patient ratio is 1:5-6 on days and nights
- High turnover on days; discharges may be followed by admissions
Schedule
- No self-scheduling
- Block scheduling may be accommodated
- Weekend coverage as needed
- Holiday coverage as needed
- Call or standby may be required for low census or cancellations
Clinical Support
- Cardiac tech available 24/7
- Nursing supervisor available 24/7
- Respiratory therapy support available 24/7
- Nurse aides available with support for accuchecks and vital signs
Floating
- May float to IMCU for medical-surgical assignments
Orientation
- 1.5 shifts of unit-specific orientation
