High Acuity Float Pool RN

Overview

• Role: RN (Registered Nurse)
• Specialty: High Acuity Float Pool
• Location: Seattle, Washington
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active WA or Compact License
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS
• 2 years ICU experience
• EPIC experience
• Prior floating experience (float pool shifts, other facilities, and/or floating to other floors/units)
• Must be able to titrate drips

Preferred

• High acuity experience
• For night shift candidates only: experience with CRRT, Impella, ECMO, IABP is prioritized; experience with PA catheters may also be helpful

Unit / Assignment Details

• Unit/Department: High Acuity Float Pool
• Float pool includes: Critical Care Unit, Observation, Med Surg, General Surgery, Ortho Surgery, Short Stay Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Telemetry, and Progressive Care
• Common patient types: Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and cardiac
• Typical ratios: 1–2 depending on acuity; may be 1–3 when acuity is lower or patients have transfer orders
• Charge/house supervisor does not take an assignment
• Nurse aides are usually present, with 1–2 depending on daily census
• RN reads strips; unit uses Phillips monitors and has at least 1 monitor tech
• RT equipment includes vent, high flow, BiPap, and CPAP
• Common titratable/set-rate drips: Epi, Norepi, Dobutamine, Propofol, Esmolol, Hydromorphone, Midazolam, CIS

Scheduling / Logistics

• Self-scheduling is allowed
• 3 weekend shifts per schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• No call or standby requirement
• Assignments are created by the charge RN at 0645–1845
• Orientation includes General Hospital Orientation, Myles Modules, Cerner Validation class, and 2 shifts on the ICU unit

• Parking is at additional cost; garage parking is available with daily and monthly options, or transit may be used
• Royal Blue scrubs/dress code
