Required Qualifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Epic experience required
• Ventilator and pressor management skills for procedure rooms
• No license hits dealing with diverting meds or endangerment

Unit Details

• Cath Lab/IR assignment with 3 rooms and a 4th room being built
• Hybrid OR room
• Nurses also go to CT, Ultrasound, and MRI for procedures and sedations
• 17 cases per day on average for Cath Labs; 22–23 including all other areas and procedures
• Recovery nurses work in a 17-bed post-procedure area

Responsibilities

• Circulate and monitor patients
• Recover patients in the post-procedure area
• Assist with procedures in CT, Ultrasound, or MRI when needed
• Perform conscious sedation in recovery for bone marrow aspiration, bronchs, and cardioversions

Schedule and Call

• Pre-procedure and Recovery: 4 ten-hour shifts, noon to 10:30 pm or 2 pm to 12:30 am
• Procedural nurses: 3 12-hour shifts, 7 am to 7 pm, with an option for 4 ten-hour shifts, 9 am to 7:30 pm
• On call one night a week
• Weekend call every 3rd or 4th weekend
• Call only every 5th weekend during the day
• Holiday call is about 1 holiday per year, rotated with permanent staff
• Mandatory call/standby requirement: Yes
• Call response time: 30 minutes for procedure nurses and techs; 45 minutes for recovery nurses

Floating

• Nurses may float to other areas on a voluntary basis only

Preferred / Helpful Context
