Registered Nurse – Telemetry

Location

  • Meridian, Idaho

Assignment Details

  • Travel assignment length: 13 weeks
  • Shift length: 12-hour shifts (days or nights available)
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Weekend and holiday coverage required
  • No call or standby requirements
  • Floating to similar units, Med/Surg, and possibly ICU if experienced; may float to nearby medical centers as needed

Unit Information

  • Telemetry unit with 27 beds (expanding by 10 beds soon)
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
  • Nurse aide ratio: 1:8 or 1:9
  • Telemetry/Monitor techs present until June, then centralized off-site
  • Equipment managed by Respiratory Therapists (CPAP, BiPAP, high flow)

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

  • CHF, NSTEMI, STEMI, Stroke, Sepsis, Diabetes, CAD, Renal Failure, Respiratory Failure, Pneumothorax, post cath lab patients
  • Experience with TR bands and Fem stops preferred (no sheath pulling)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience
  • Cardiac drip experience (note: RNs do not titrate drips on this unit)
  • Experience with NIH stroke assessment
  • Post cath recovery and chest tube care experience
  • Ability to read and document telemetry every 6 hours (using SpaceLab monitors, transitioning to Philips)

Scheduling & Orientation

  • Shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Scheduling prioritizes unit needs; traveler shift requests considered when possible
  • Trades allowed with peers; no block scheduling
  • Department-specific orientation includes system onboarding plus 2 orientation shifts

Dress Code

  • Scrub color: Any, as long as clean, well-kept, and professional

Additional Notes

  • Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address eligibility
  • Charge nurse and house supervisor roles exist but do not take patients
