Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)

• Unit: Ortho/Surgical (5th Floor, Patient Tower)
• Unit Size: 35 beds, 11 staff members per shift
• Shift Coverage:

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge/CNC, 6 RNs, 3 PCTs, 1 Unit Clerk
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge/CNC, 6 RNs, 3 PCTs
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 to 1:6
• EMR System: MEDITECH
• Typical Procedures:

  • Bariatric procedures (Gastric bypass, Gastric sleeves)
  • Orthopedic surgeries (Total hip and knee replacements)
  • General surgery (Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomies)

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: Active Texas RN License
• Certifications:

  • Required: BLS
  • Preferred: Bariatric Certification, Med/Surg Certification, Ortho Certification, ACLS
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Work Environment & Policies

• Floating: Expected to float to Med/Renal, Oncology, Med/Surg Tele, CVTS, and Telemetry units
• Dress Code:

  • Navy scrub top and pants
  • Clean and healthy nails
  • Neat and clean hair, no extreme styles or colors
  • Beards, mustaches, and sideburns must be clean and neatly trimmed
  • Tattoos should be covered when possible; exceptions handled individually
  • Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
• Attendance:

  • 4 weekend shifts per schedule or 2 full weekends
  • Weekend night shifts on Friday, Saturday, Sunday (night shift)
  • Weekend day shifts on Saturday and Sunday (day shift)
• Personality Fit: Team player with a positive attitude

• 13 weeks
