Histology Tech - Travel Assignment

Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (05:00-13:30 or 09:30-18:00)
Hours: 36 hours per week

Job Description

Seeking a certified Histology Technician (HTL) with specialized experience in immunohistochemistry (IHC) stains and troubleshooting staining programs and protocols. The role involves working independently in a lab setting with a small team, performing a variety of histology procedures.

Unit Information

Department: Histology Lab
Staff: 2 full-time Histology Technicians on day shift; no night shift staff
Equipment includes:
- Roche Benchmark Ultra IHC stainers
- Roche Special Stainer
- Sakura tissue processors
- Thermo Fisher embedding system and slide labelers
- Sakura H&E Stainer/Coverslipper
- Leica Microtomes

Required Qualifications

ASCP certification as a Histology Technologist (HTL)
Minimum of 2 years of Histology Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
Experience working in an Acute Care setting
Proficient in immunohistochemistry (IHC) techniques
Skilled in performing special stains
Experience managing and troubleshooting staining instrumentation

Typical Procedures

Logging incoming tissue samples
Embedding tissues
Cutting tissue for staining
Operating staining equipment
Filing slides and cassettes

Preferred Attributes

Higher certification (HTL) with extensive training in IHC stains and troubleshooting
Ability to multitask and work independently
Professional demeanor with a good attitude in stressful environments
Easy-going with a good sense of humor

Dress Code

Scrubs in charcoal grey or business casual attire under a lab coat (lab coats provided)

Additional Notes

No floating to other areas required
Prior travel experience is not specified as required for this role
