Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department

Location: Texarkana, Texas
Employment Type: Travel (Full Time)
Shift: Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Float Requirement: Available for all Emergency Department locations

Job Summary

The RN practices independently in the Emergency Department, providing both routine and complex nursing care. The role involves managing clinical situations, making appropriate assignments, and delegating tasks to other care providers. The nurse addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families, administers medications and treatments following protocols, and documents patient care thoroughly. Patient and family education is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Meet applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex patient and family needs in line with nursing practice level.
• Administer medications and treatments, monitor side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.

Requirements

Education & Licenses

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current RN License in Texas or compact license.
• Current certifications required:

  • BLS (AHA only)
  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • PALS (AHA only)
  • TNCC

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty (Emergency Department) preferred.

Orientation & Competency

• New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days.
• New hires receive preceptorship and must complete organizational and ED-specific competency validations.
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency or specific orientation program.
• Completion of annual competency verification is required.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks
