Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical

Position Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
• Call: Not required
• License: Nevada RN license required prior to start
• Certifications: BLS (AHA) required
• Experience: Minimum 2 years Medical Surgical experience required (highest requirement)
• Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to float to other units as needed within competency level
  • Required to pick up one additional shift every 4 weeks
  • Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts

Unit Description

• 54-bed medical unit providing multidisciplinary care
• Patient population includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Conditions treated include renal, hepatic, respiratory, cardiac, neurologic, psychiatric, infectious diseases, cellulitis, COPD, diabetes, alcohol withdrawal, pneumonia, sepsis, and more

Work Environment

• Extremely busy, fast-paced Level 2 trauma center
• Serves a 500-mile radius
• Hospital features: 800 inpatient beds, 80 ER beds, Stroke accreditation
• Volume and pace comparable to a Level 1 trauma center

Position Purpose & Responsibilities

• Provide optimal patient care using nursing knowledge and skills
• Accountable for individualized patient outcomes over entire episodes of care
• Deliver comprehensive nursing services to patients and their families/caregivers
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as needed
• Requires continuous mental effort for safe patient care and decision-making

Summary

This travel RN position offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, multidisciplinary medical surgical unit within a busy Level 2 trauma center. The role requires at least 2 years of medical surgical nursing experience, a Nevada RN license, and BLS certification. The schedule is primarily night shifts with some flexibility and additional shift requirements. Nurses must be adaptable to floating and working with a diverse adult patient population.
