Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Float Requirements: Float to all inpatient units as needed, typically higher acuity units
• On Call/Call Back: May be on call during low census; minimum 2-hour call back

Unit Information

• 36-bed Medical-Surgical Intermediate Care unit
• Heavy telemetry patient population
• Patient conditions include: stable and weaning ventilators/tracheostomies, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy care, chest tubes, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, stroke
• Patient ratio: 4:1 (Primary Patients/Insulin Drips)

Required Qualifications

• License: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Stepdown/Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Unit required (firm requirement)
  • Ventilator and tracheostomy care experience required
  • ICU experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: At least 1 prior travel contract required
• Charting: EPIC experience preferred

Additional Information

• Contractors must be located outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Contract ends on Sunday, not Saturday
• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy
• Must be able to manage independently, work in a fast-paced environment, and adapt well to change
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)

This position is ideal for experienced Intermediate Care RNs with ventilator and trach skills who have prior travel experience and are comfortable working night shifts in a dynamic, high-acuity environment.
