Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour day/night shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: Guaranteed 48 hours; overtime billable after 48 hours/week
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holidays required
• Float Requirements: Float to all inpatient units
• On Call/Call Back: Eligible for up to 36 hours of low census unbillable hours; may be asked to work partial shifts (4 or 8 hours) during low census
• Unit: Post Surgical Care Unit (40-bed inpatient area) caring for pre- and post-surgical adult and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Day/PM shifts 1:4 or 1:5; Night shifts 1:5 to 1:7
• Pace: Fast-paced unit with 10-15 admissions per day, occupancy 90-95%, average length of stay 2-3 days (except joint patients)
• Scrub Color: Any color allowed

Required Qualifications

• License: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years Medical-Surgical nursing experience with recent hospital experience
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
• Charting: Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

• Contractors must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Equipment used includes Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris pumps
• Must be able to multitask, prioritize patient care based on acuity, and work effectively as part of a team
• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action
• Orientation week hours are not guaranteed; otherwise, set hours per week are guaranteed except when the unit is closed for holidays
