Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Job Summary

Provide individualized, safe, and therapeutic nursing care to patients and their families in a Labor & Delivery setting. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care that promotes quality outcomes and supports patient and family goals. Collaborate with healthcare team members to manage complex or high-risk clinical situations and serve as a patient advocate.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family needs, prioritizing both overt and subtle concerns.
• Develop and document individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Implement and adapt culturally and age-appropriate nursing interventions.
• Evaluate patient and family progress toward goals and adjust care plans as needed.
• Identify and address patient/family educational needs using adult-learning principles.
• Recognize communication barriers and engage interdisciplinary expertise to foster therapeutic relationships.
• Delegate care tasks appropriately within team members’ scope of practice.
• Coordinate and communicate with healthcare team and ancillary staff to ensure efficient patient care and workflow.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification (AWHONN EFM Advanced or Intermediate)

Approximately 17 weeks
