Clinical Lab Technologist - Minnesota, Rochester

Job Summary

• Perform analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to assist healthcare providers in diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, troubleshoot assays, and evaluate test accuracy.
• Participate in operational support activities to optimize testing capabilities.
• Work with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.
• May assist with specimen collection and work with minimal supervision.
• Strict adherence to safety protocols when handling infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.

Work Schedule

• Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Training: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday for approximately 1 month.
• 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
• Must accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holidays, on-call, and weekend assignments as needed.

Work Environment

• Central Processing Lab: pre-analytic specimen processing, operation of laboratory and office equipment.
• Enter test orders and information into laboratory computer systems.
• Respond to high volume of phone inquiries regarding laboratory testing.
• Ensure correct patient identification on specimens and resolve pre-analytic specimen-related issues.
• Provide training to others and operate automated systems.
• Integral part of the Department of Lab Medicine and Pathology team supporting patient testing.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a biological science.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Lab Technician, including experience within the last year.
• Experience as a Medical Technologist.
