Job Description
- Perform all nursing responsibilities and duties specific to the oncology unit.
- Implement procedures and theories related to oncology nursing practice.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to resolve issues and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue professional development.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
- Perform patient care duties including:
- Head-to-toe assessments
- Starting IVs
- Inserting NG tubes
- Dressing changes
- Administering medications
- Inserting Foley catheters
- Accessing and maintaining Mediports throughout the shift
- Assist with bone marrow aspirations at the bedside.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Administer Chemotherapy/Biotherapy to patients both on the Oncology unit and throughout the hospital.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Requirements
Education
- Required: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience
Certifications & Licensure
- Required:
- Illinois State RN License in good standing
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- Preferred: None specified
