Certified Surgical Technician (Outpatient)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Job Description

• Float between outpatient surgery centers within a regional health system.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience.
• Experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not required; medical or religious exemptions accepted.
• Positive MMR titers within the last 15 years; if low titer, booster protocol applies.
• Positive Varicella titers within the last 15 years; booster protocol applies if low titer.
• Tdap vaccination within the last 10 years (no declinations accepted).
• Hepatitis B: proof of full series, partial series, signed declination, or positive titer within 15 years.
• Annual 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) test with negative results within last 6 months; if positive, clear chest X-ray and current TB questionnaire required.
• Fit test for N95 respirators completed within 1 year prior to start; updated annually.
• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start confirming ability to work without restrictions.

Background & Compliance Checks

• Criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including Social Security trace, county searches (last 7 years), national criminal sweep, and sex offender registry.
• Ohio fingerprinting and FBI background checks required depending on length of Ohio residency.
• Employment verification for the last 5 years through third-party verification.
• Education verification through third-party; international education requires equivalency documentation.
• I-9 attestation confirming eligibility to work.
• OIG exclusion check within 6 months prior to start.
• SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC screening within 6 months prior to start.
• Drug screen within 60 days prior to start; 10-panel urine drug screen required (instant tests not accepted).
• Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; renewal annually.

Skills & Competency

• Completion of a skills checklist specific to the clinical role within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement).
• Competency exam for relevant department with a minimum passing score of 80% within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement).
• Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, OSHA topics with 80% passing score within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement).
