Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 7 weeks

Job Requirements

• Must have 2+ years of recent RN experience.
• Nursing degree from an accredited program (ACEN or CCNE accredited).
• ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA only, AHA RQI acceptable).
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• Float pool required.
• EPIC experience within the last 12 months (must be on resume).
• Resume to include Return to Office (RTO) availability with a maximum of 7 days off; no block schedule requests.
• Solid black scrubs required.

Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (AHA only) – Required for submission.
• ACLS (AHA only) – Required for submission.
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification – Required before onboarding.
• Nursys License Verification – Required within 30 days of start.
• License/Certificate Verification – Primary source verification within 30 days of start.
• Driver’s License/State ID – Valid government-issued photo ID required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Fit Test – Required for all patient-facing roles; must be current within 1 year.
• Health Statement/Physical – Pre-employment physical within 1 year confirming ability to perform job functions.
• COVID-19 Vaccine – Fully vaccinated required; medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case.
• MMR – Titer or 2 adult vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
• Hepatitis B – Titer or complete vaccine series required; signed declinations accepted.
• Influenza Vaccine – Required October-April; medical or religious exemptions require approval.
• 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) – Negative results required; no declinations accepted.
• Varicella – Titer or 2 adult vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
• Tdap – Recommended within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
• Annual TB Questionnaire – Must be completed, signed, and dated on facility form.
• Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray – If applicable, chest x-ray within 1 year required.

Testing & Competency Exams (Required Before Onboarding)

• Unit-specific competency exam (passing score required, updated annually).
• Unit-specific skills checklist (updated annually).
• EKG and Telemetry exams (passing score of 80% or higher, within 1 year).
• Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics (updated annually).
• Pharmacology exams (optional).

Background & Screening

• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (updated annually).
• Criminal background check (FCRA compliant, 7-year search, including SSN trace and nationwide checks) within 90 days of start.
• OIG, EPLS, and Education verifications within 90 days of start.
• Social Security Card or Social Security Number confirmation required.

Additional Notes

• Must repeat certain verifications and screenings if there is a break in service of 30 days or more.
• Instant background checks are not accepted.
• Travelers continuously on assignment with no breaks are not required to update physicals annually.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong telemetry and medical/surgical skills, who meet strict credentialing and health requirements, and are comfortable working in a float capacity with EPIC experience.
