Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location

  • New Orleans, Louisiana

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Shift: Day (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Yes
  • Call Requirement: No
  • Float Requirement: No
  • Strict 5-day maximum Return to Office (RTO) policy

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Clinical Skills & Equipment Experience

  • Experience with Nitric Oxide therapy, ECMO, and bedside bronchoscopies
  • Familiarity with ventilators: Puritan Bennett 840 and 980
  • Bipap: Phillips V60
  • Transport ventilators: Pneutron, Newport, and Parapac

  • Scrubs color: Gray

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
    • Social Security trace
    • County, nationwide, sex offender, federal extended, and FACIS Level 3 checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, etc.)
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklist within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Competency exams (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, core parts I-III) required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must score 80% or higher
  • State license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam not required by employer but required within 12 months for placement
  • Immunizations and health documentation:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper forms)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (two-step skin test or equivalent)
    • Annual TB questionnaire
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination signed within 12 months of start
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required October 1 – March 31; exemptions and declinations accepted with proper forms; masks required if unvaccinated

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification not required for this specialty
  • Must comply with employee appearance policy and flu declination policies
