Case Manager (Registered Nurse) - Travel/Contract

Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 5 days per week, 8-hour day shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Patient load: 35-40 patients per day
  • Orientation: Held every other week on Thursday and Friday (2 days)
  • Float within scope of practice as needed
  • 40 hours guaranteed per week
  • Dress code: Business casual with white lab coat/jacket required on the floor
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Parking: Free for travelers

Unit Description

  • Focus on discharge planning and care coordination (not utilization review)
  • Real-time documentation of assessments and notes required during patient evaluation
  • Use of MCG (Milliman Care Guidelines); experience with MCG is a plus
  • Experience with risk assessments and social determinants of health (SDOH) is beneficial
  • Regulatory agency: DNV

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in West Virginia
  • Minimum 2 years of case management experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Acute care nursing experience

Additional Notes

  • Candidates may be required to travel up to 100 miles for fit testing
  • Candidates must submit a single PDF containing: work history, specialty skills checklist, minimum 2 manager/charge nurse references (within past 2 years), RN license verification (NURSYS within 2 days of submission), driver’s license, and social security card
  • Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 2 years after last permanent day worked at this facility
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including dress code, time and attendance, blood administration, and vaccination exemption forms if applicable
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification required for certain units (ER, Surgical & Trauma ICU, Behavioral Health)
  • CAMC requires all nursing candidates to complete inservice training modules including pass/fail testing prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
  • Facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with 855 staffed beds

This position is ideal for RNs with acute care experience interested in case management and discharge planning within a large acute care hospital setting. First-time travel nurses are accepted.
