Job Opportunity: PCU Float Registered Nurse

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Float required to all Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratios:
    • PCU: 1:4-5
    • MS/MS Telemetry: 1:5-6
  • Electronic Health Record system: Epic (required)
  • Other systems: Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: If one major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if two, expected to work both; if three, expected to work two
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
  • Return to Orientation (RTO) required within 7 days, with blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4-12)
  • Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system

Work Environment & Additional Information

  • Floating between MS, MS Telemetry, and PCU units is required
  • No call responsibilities
  • Orientation hours vary based on contract length
  • Dress and professional appearance policy must be followed
  • Code of conduct acknowledgment required prior to start

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not explicitly required; 1st time travelers are accepted

This position offers a guaranteed minimum of 36 or 48 hours per week and is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable floating across multiple adult care units in a hospital setting.
