Job Opportunity: Transplant Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with a specialty in Transplant for the Operating Room. The position involves working in a short-term acute care facility focused solely on abdominal transplants including kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral transplants. Pediatric transplants are not included.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of strong transplant experience required.
- First-time travelers accepted if they meet the transplant experience requirement.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Call requirement: 40-60 hours per 6-week period.
- Float required: Yes, multi-specialty covering all surgeries.
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
- Shift options:
- 8 and 10 hour shifts (40 hours/week)
- 3 twelve-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
- 4 twelve-hour shifts (48 hours/week)
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Indiana RN license (permanent, temporary, or compact license) required at start.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- Regulatory charting certification for transplants required.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, NIH Stroke, and other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (verify with recruiter).
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy).
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG within specified timeframes.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date.
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start date (specific approved respirators required).
- Immunizations and titers:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Preferred but not required.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months.
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- TB testing within 1 year of start date, with chest x-ray if positive.
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required.
- Color blindness testing required.
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles.
- Skills checklist within 12 months and annually.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, compliance, confidentiality, and safety forms prior to start.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of transplant experience, with transplant experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Unit Information
- Focus on abdominal transplants only (kidney, pancreas, liver, intestinal/multi-visceral).
- Pediatric transplants are excluded.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Parking: Free.
Important Notes
- Local travelers with permanent residence in Indiana are accepted but with adjusted pay rates until March 1st.
- Effective March 1, 2026, Indiana residents will no longer be eligible to sign new contracts in this specialty at this facility.
This position is ideal for experienced transplant OR RNs looking for a travel contract in a specialized transplant unit with a reputable acute care hospital system.
