Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse with experience in OB, Mother/Baby, and L&D. The nurse will work in a 15-bed LDRP unit with triage bays and operating rooms, providing antepartum, labor and delivery, OR circulating, scrub nurse, newborn nurse at delivery, and couplet care. Nurses also perform lab draws and newborn hearing screens.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in OB, Mother/Baby, and Labor & Delivery
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Work Schedule & Environment
- No Return to Office (RTO) for the first two weeks of the contract
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Float: May float to other hospital locations (up to 27 miles away) as needed
- Call: None
- EMR System: EPIC
Certifications Required
- ACLS (AHA)
- BLS (AHA)
- NRP (AAP or American Medical Learning Center)
- AWHONN Intermediate and/or NCC C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Additional preferred: AWHONN Advanced
Skills Required
- Circulate
- FHM Triage (Fetal Heart Monitoring Triage)
- Preferred: Scrub skills
Additional Information
- Will work in all areas of LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
- Nurses will be trained to complete newborn infant hearing screens (ALGO 5 Machine used)
- Scrubs will be provided
Required Qualifications & Compliance
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience working with Maternal-Fetal, Neonate, and Infant patients
Experience in OB/GYN and Maternal-Newborn care
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
Skills in circulating and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) triage
Physical exam within 1 year of start
Immunizations and health requirements including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of 1 prior Tdap vaccine)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or facility declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Flu seasonal vaccination or approved exemption (for candidates starting after 11/1)
10-panel drug test including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start
Background checks including criminal history, SSN trace, national and state searches, education verification, and Michigan Central Registry Clearance (wet signature required for registry form)
MI LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start
Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam and specialty competency exam within 1 year prior to assignment start with passing score of at least 80%
Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
Compliance with facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct, Appearance Standards, and vaccine exemption forms if applicable
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Labor and Delivery RN with required certifications and skills in a busy LDRP unit. The role requires flexibility to float within the hospital system and work every other weekend. Compliance with extensive health, background, and licensing requirements is mandatory.
