Shift Details
- Day shift, 3 shifts per week
- 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM)
- Average 36 hours per week
Unit & Work Environment
- Telemetry unit managing diagnoses such as:
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Myocardial Infarction (MI)/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath)
- Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants)
- Hypo-/Hypertension
- Pleural effusion
- Sepsis
- Pulmonary Embolism (PE)/Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)/vascular issues
- Nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:4-5
- Unit has 36 rooms with an average daily census of 35
- Electronic Medical Record system: Epic (required)
- Other systems: Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Scheduling & Time Off
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
- RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Weekend work: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call: None
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; NIH Stroke Certification preferred but not required
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM) not required for this specialty
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Georgia
- Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry)
- Up to 3 attempts allowed; failure on 3rd attempt results in cancellation
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
Compliance & Screening
- Full compliance with all requirements needed to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Clinical screening to determine clinical fit before final approval
- Locals accepted at same rate
Orientation
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment, 19 hours for 19-week assignment)
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Valid photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start; must include:
- County and national criminal searches
- Sex offender registry
- Education verification (degree related to nursing)
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- Two clinical references required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (agency requirement)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months; if positive history, additional documentation required
- TB Questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) highly recommended but not required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start; instant drug screen acceptable
Facility Policies
- Candidate must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS certification
- Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record system
