Registered Nurse - CVICU (Wisconsin, Madison)

Shift Details

  • Night shifts
  • 12-hour shifts (1900-0730)
  • Every other weekend
  • Some holidays
  • No on-call required

Specialty & Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU)
  • CVICU experience required
  • Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
  • Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience required
  • Must pass Telemetry test prior to start

Licensure & Certifications Required

  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Testing & Competency Requirements

  • Telemetry test (pass required before start)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) as applicable
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable

Immunizations & Health Requirements

  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if applicable
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer or approved exemption
  • MMR vaccination or positive titers or approved exemption
  • TB testing (negative TB test or chest x-ray and TB questionnaire)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof
  • Drug screening per standard requirements

Background & Compliance

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, county, nationwide, and sex offender checks
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start (state mandated)
  • Employment application required
  • Two clinical references within last 3 years (Aya standard)

Additional Notes

  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
  • Photo for badge required (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
  • Various facility-specific forms and waivers may be required for vaccine exemptions and communicable disease screening
  • Remediation courses and multiple attempts allowed for Telemetry and Rhythm Interpretation testing; failure after third attempt results in contract cancellation

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs licensed in Wisconsin with strong critical care skills, especially those familiar with CVVH machines and cardiothoracic surgery environments. Night shift availability and ability to pass required competency and telemetry testing are essential.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum of 1 year CVICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine
