Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Marrero, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4x12 hours), 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Hours per Week: 48

Unit & Patient Care Information

• Unit type: General Medical-Surgical with COVID, TB, and negative pressure rooms
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Required skills: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Float requirement: Yes
• Weekend requirement: Yes
• Holiday requirement: At least 2 out of 3 holidays
• No on-call duties

Required Qualifications

• Specialty experience: Minimum 2 years in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
• Epic electronic health record experience required
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred

Competencies & Exams

• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (updated annually)
• Core competencies (Parts I, II, and III) required and must be updated annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (two-step skin test or equivalent)
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 12 months of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with accepted medical/religious exemptions and declinations
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years, with accepted exemptions
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)

Background & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, nationwide and county checks, sex offender registry, federal exclusions, and FACIS Level 3
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation required
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• E-Verify/I9 documentation required
• State RN license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Scheduling Notes

• No straight 3x12 schedules available
• Options: alternating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts every other week, or straight 4x12 shifts
• Return to Office (RTO) within 5 days or additional time added to contract end

Additional Notes

• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification not required for Med Surg/Telemetry units
• Employee appearance policy and flu declination forms must be acknowledged prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts, telemetry monitoring, and working in a dynamic hospital environment with infectious disease precautions.
