Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Auburn, New York
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP

Job Details

• Specialty: Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse
• Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Hours per week: 36 (option to work up to 48)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Team Nursing Model: Care team of RN, LPN, and PCA manages up to 8 patients
• Floating: Required as per facility needs
• No blocked scheduling
• Call-Off Policy: Maximum 3 call-offs allowed during the 13-week assignment

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
• Competencies:

  • Use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Experience & Skills

• Recent clinical experience in Med Surg/Telemetry required
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips independently (no telemetry technicians employed)
• Experience with dysrhythmia identification and management
• Familiarity with oxygen delivery devices and airway management

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID
• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months, signed by licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties
• Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (approved mask types specified)
• Immunizations and screenings:

  • TDAP vaccine within last 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
  • Measles, mumps, rubella immunity verification
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella immunity or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine records or declination
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Professional references: 2 within last 3 years
• Skills checklist and facility-specific documents (code of conduct, patient abuse reporting, confidentiality agreement, orientation packet acknowledgment, automated dispensing cabinet security training, annual TB screening questionnaire)
• State-specific requirements: NYS Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List verification

Additional Notes

• Candidates who can start immediately, have no requested time off (RTO), and meet all clinical requirements may be eligible for expedited offer without interview
• Any requested time off must be disclosed at submittal; no RTO allowed after offer acceptance without traveler responsibility for shift coverage
• Automatic disqualification if no hits on nursing license verification
