Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Job Description
- Position involves floating between Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Postpartum (PP) units as part of a maternity float pool (true LDRP position).
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15), totaling 36 hours per week.
- Every other weekend and holiday required.
- Facility accepts 36 or 48 hours per week and contracts between 13 to 26 weeks.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP).
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
- AWHONN certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Demonstrated Labor and Delivery experience.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
- Massachusetts Statewide iCORI (criminal background) clearance required within 30 days prior to start.
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and federal exclusions.
- Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable).
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
- Immunizations or valid declinations required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with titers, vaccines, or declination (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU).
- Varicella (chickenpox) immunity or declination.
- Hepatitis B series or immunity or declination.
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season).
- COVID-19 vaccine (most recent) or declination.
- Tuberculosis screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray and TB questionnaire required.
- References: Two professional references within three years.
- Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
- Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually.
Additional Notes
- Locals are eligible for the same bill rate as travelers.
- Candidates must be aware of the strict pass/fail testing policy at orientation.
- Study materials for exams will be provided during compliance and orientation process.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses comfortable with maternity float pool assignments and who meet the licensure and certification requirements. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory if experience exceeds 3 years.
