Clinical Lab Scientist - Travel/Contract
Location: Redlands, California
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Clinical Lab Scientist with hospital clinical laboratory experience. Orientation lasts 36-48 hours (may extend as needed). Work involves use of specialized equipment including XN-2000, UN-3000, Stago COMPACT MAX, Biofire, Cepheid, and Echo. Documentation is done via Meditech Expanse. Dress code is business casual with lab coat provided.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) license in California
- Minimum 3 years of Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) experience
- Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) experience within the last year
- ASCP-MLS certification
Orientation & Training
- 36-48 hours orientation (may be longer if needed)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within last 12 months, updated annually
- Fit mask testing with approved respirators; no facial hair allowed during fit testing
- Immunizations and titers required within 90 days of start (or 1 year for per diem):
- Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or T-Spot) with annual updates; past positives require chest x-ray and questionnaire
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or declination with proof of low titer
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination by October 31 (mask required if declining)
- COVID vaccination plus 1 booster or approved exemption
- 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start (1 year accepted for per diem)
- Color blind exam (Ishihara test) required for clinical positions
Compliance & Documentation
- Background checks including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Professional references (2 within last 3 years) required for some agencies
- Employment application and work history verification
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Signed acknowledgments for:
- Job description and physical demands
- Safety manual and Joint Commission training
- Confidentiality, code of conduct, abuse reporting, domestic violence, sexual harassment, patient rights, drug-free workplace policies
- Employee handbook and other facility-specific policies
- Photo for badge following dress code guidelines (natural hair colors, no visible tattoos or face piercings, white/off-white background)

- First-time travelers are welcome

- No prior travel experience required
